As a business owner you probably wonder how a UX Designer Consultant could help? Will it be actionable right away? Is it going to be lasting or should I get an “update” every now and then? What will be my real return-on-investment and how much will it cost?
Scenario 1
Let’s say you want to play safe and have an overview of how well your application performs and have a list of recommendations to cover the basics in terms of modern user experience.
I can conduct a heuristic evaluation in 20 to 40 hours depending how complex is your application and how deep you want to go. We can also focus on one or two aspect of the user flow, to your like.
This process requires a minimal understanding of the application capabilities and user goals. The resulting artifact is a report highlighting the issues, ranging from critical to aesthetics, and a set of recommendations that you can include in your backlog.
Depending on the framework (Jakob Nielsen, Bastien & Scapin or ISO 9241 standards), the heuristic evaluation can help discover usability and ergonomics issues, such as ambiguous navigation system and information architecture, inconsistant design patterns, lack of guidance and error preventions.
While the WCAG 2.0 accessibility standard assess the legibility of typography sizes and contrasts, as well as best screen readers practices to support people with disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity and combinations of these.
